Introducing oculus QUEST 2, the next generation of next-generation VR is on sale

Oculus Quest changed the game for wireless VR. It delivered new experiences for enthusiasts and new opportunities for programmers, all while introducing immersive gaming for newcomers across the world. Quest 2 pushes the state of VR forward with a redesigned all-in-one form factor, new Touch controllers, and also our highest-resolution display . Quest 2 begins at $299 USD–$100 USD less than the first Quest. Pre-orders are available today, and Quest 2 ships October 13.
You can pre-order today at and our global retail partners, including: Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart in the US; Currys PC World and FNAC Darty in the UK and EU; and Amazon worldwide. We are also bringing Oculus merchandise to Japanese retail shops for the very first time together with Quest 2, including Bic Camera, Yamada Denki, Yodobashi Camera, and GEO.
Quest two packs a package of innovations to power the next generation of VR experiences and games. Together with the first Quest headset, we debuted a revolutionary all-purpose form variable powered by inventions like the Oculus Insight monitoring system. With Quest 2, we are taking things even further, beginning with a multi-generational jump in processing power with the state-of-the-art Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ XR2 Platform offering higher AI capacity, and 6GB of RAM. The new screen features 1832 x 1920 pixels each eye–our greatest resolution display yet. With 50% more pixels than the original Quest, everything from multiplayer matches and productivity programs to 360° videos seem better than ever.
We did not stop there. With Quest 2’s increased graphics processing power, this new screen is capable of encouraging 90 Hz. You’ll be able to run system programs at 90 Hz on day one, including the Home Environment, Explore, Store, Browser and Oculus TV by picking in through Experimental Features. We are going to open up 90 Hz to all developers soon after launching.
When it comes to game controllers, comfort is crucial, but so is functionality. Quest 2 includes fresh Touch controllers constructed to provide better ergonomics–motivated by our first Touch layout –with the same intuitive controls that interpret gestures into VR for unparalleled hand presence in virtual environments. We also optimized controller monitoring to make it even more efficient, delivering battery life that’s up to four times more * than Quest’s Touch controllers. With hundreds of popular Quest and Rift games available, and many more on the way, there’s never been a better time to jump into VR.

From the start, we wanted Quest 2 to help more people discover what VR has to offer you. That is why we redesigned the headset to reach a thinner profile, cutting 10% of the weight from the first Quest so it’s more portable and easier to wear. In addition, we know that elastic IPD (interpupillary distance) is an important factor when considering VR headsets. Quest 2 includes a built-in IPD adjustment mechanism with three settings, allowing people adjust lens position for visual comfort.
Quest 2 will even support a brand new line of optional accessories. Designed to improve fit and comfort, these customizable head straps and facial interface add-ons give individuals the flexibility to perform how they want, wherever they want. As an example, the Elite Forged with Battery attachment delivers double the playtime with increased balance and girth, helping individuals who adore longer play sessions to remain immersed in their favourite games and experiences. Along with the Fit Pack provides swappable facial interfaces to match wider or narrower face shapes. As we welcome more people to our community with Quest 2, we expect these accessories will help make VR more inclusive for a diverse crowd.
Our goal with the first Quest was going to bring standalone VR to as many individuals as possible. We are doubling down on this goal with Quest 2. It combines the functionality gamers want with the flexibility people need, all at a price significantly lower than similarly featured headsets on the market. Quest 2 is more than just the next step in all round VR. It reflects years of feedback from developers, gaming enthusiasts, and also the wider VR community, and we all couldn’t be more thankful for this ongoing support.
We can not wait to discuss with you shortly.
